Tracy posed for pictures and took time to talk with the media (interview above) yesterday at the Toyota center for the Rocket’s annual media day, held at the start of training camp. Tracy was candid with the media, leading some Rocket’s fans to already start to be nervous about their star’s health.
“My knee is about 75, 80 percent right now,” Tracy, said. “It took longer than expected. I was expecting to recover 100 percent in four months, but the doctor told me it would be six months or even more. My shoulder had, after surgery, kept bothering me. I had another MRI and discovered I have arthritis in there, so I have to have surgery again…

The Rockets are holding a blood drive this morning to benefit the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. The 2008 Blood Drive presented by Memorial Hermann is taking place at the Toyota Center from 9am – 2pm today, with the first 300 donors receiving a free t-shirt. Rockets players will be in attendance to meet with the generous donors. Hurry up and head over to the Toyota Center to benefit a great cause.

Parade Magazine recently published the Giving Back Fund’s second annual Giving Back 30 survey,
a ranking of the celebrities who have made the largest donations to charity in 2007. Tracy McGrady, who’s personal donations were calculated at $1,000,000, ranked 20th on the list. Tracy’s donations were mainly directed to Stand up for Darfur and other projects to improve education for Sudanese Refugees. Others making the list that are affiliated with the NBA include Michael Jordan (7), Mike Miller (T-20th), and Jerry West (28). To see the entire list, click here . Basketball all-star Tracy McGrady certainly enjoys a good life. “Am I spoiled?” he asks. “Yes, I’m spoiled.”
McGrady’s first paycheck came from Adidas in a $500,000 endorsement deal, and his first job was playing in the NBA. The Houston Rockets guard/forward lives in a mansion, has no shortage of jewelry and clothes, and flies on private planes.
Unlike so many professional athletes, though, McGrady chose to leave all such luxuries behind and see firsthand how the world’s least fortunate survive. His riches-to-rags journey is chronicled in the new documentary, “3 Points,” an account of McGrady’s visit last year to three African refugee camps.
