Houston Living Today caught up with 7 time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady on his birthday today, May 24th. Tracy had a fun-filled day with family and friends, but had a big surprise waiting for him later in the evening. Because Tracy has been a lifelong fan of baseball and enjoys opportunity to be up close, his wife and kids treated him to see a Sugar Land Skeeters minor league baseball game at the brand new beautiful Constellation Field off Highway 6 in Sugar Land. This new state of the art stadium is an amazing venue with many great features to entertain the serious baseball fan, or families looking for a fun evening out.
Little did Tracy know that he would be wished a Happy Birthday in front of the crowd on the jumbotron at the stadium, presented with a custom Skeeters jersey emblazoned with ‘McGrady’ on the back, and throwing out the first pitch of the game! He had been eagerly awaiting the opening of the field since he first heard about it a couple years ago. This was a fun event for Tracy who was quite a good baseball player and possesses a great throwing arm.
Tracy was very excited and appreciative of the reception he received on his birthday by the Skeeters and their crowd. The new stadium is quite expansive and impressive. Before the game Tracy stepped to the mound with a big smile, wound up, and fired a fastball into the glove of the catcher. The crowd reacted loudly to seeing the pitch delivered in solid fashion to get the game started. Tracy enjoyed himself in an upper level club seat watching the game, interacting with a few fans, and sitting and chatting with Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson.
