It was nice while we had you in Toronto. I have buddies from elementary to high school who know that I am your biggest fan. Alot of critiscm nowadays. That blackberry of mine is full of text messages and phone calls on your status. Its all good though. I am in biochemistry at trent university wanting to specialize in orthopedics due to my love in sports specifically basketball. Read alot about microfracture surgery and watched the press conference. Get lots of rest man. Even if it takes a full season.

If you read this, I hope it helps in your quest to return to form. The associated press ran a very informative article about Tom Brady’s rehab and orthopedic procedures. Here are some quotes that I felt were especially important: “Andrews has performed surgery on hundreds of high-profile athletes. He said even surgeons themselves often overestimate their success in getting athletes of all levels back to performing as they did before they were injured”; “When you listen to your orthopedic surgeon and he tells you you’re going to be well in a certain period of time, you best triple that and you’ll be closer to reality.” Only you know your body: I hope you take all the time you need to rehab your knee back to 100%. So many precedents have shown the futility of trying to rush back to the game, with Gilbert Arenas being perhaps the best example. Exercising a conservative approach will let you do the amazing things you do on the court again one day. I am confident that you have the patience and mental strength to succeed.

At 45 years of age, I had knee surgery last Feb for multiple meniscus tears. I still have some discomfort but am ok. I can no longer play b-ball. I wonder if sports doctors do something better than regular docs. Please advise asap. Thanks

Tracy, I am very glad to hear that your surgery was successful. We truly miss you this season as there are those of us that were really looking forward to you playing. I hope my message doesn’t come across as disrespectful but have you considered retirement? I ask because besides the injury, you just do not appear to have basketball in your heart any more. I say this because when I compare your desire to Kobe, Wade, Lebron, KG you just do not seem to have the same fire that they display although you are just as talented or even more talented as they are. Basketball comes effortless to you but not to the aforementioned players. Even Kobe has to try a lot harder to be a great athlete than you because talent is what God has given you in that area. I do not think you have enough confidence in yourself and I cannot relate because sometimes I doubt my talent while others have a lot of faith in me. I just pray that you do not allow fear to keep you from being the very best that you can be because you definitely have the skills to be the very best. Again I am not trying to sound demeaning but I would hate to see you reflect on your life years from now and realize that there was so much more that you could have done besides being the leading scorer in the league a couple of times. Of course that is not all you have accomplished but for some reason I truly believe there is so much more that you could have given. If people seem to be a little hard on you, can you blame them…..particularly when those things are not said to try to be belittle you because that is not my intent. Sorry to hear about your season ending. I know this was to be a special year for you, but now really rest up and rehab the shoulder and the knee so come December, you are ready to roll like I know you can. good luck Tracy. It’s obvious that this needed to be done…not only for you, but for the team. You don’t do well when you’re not playing at 100%, and in all honesty it wasn’t 100% for almost anytime this season.
You may be one of the most talented players this league has ever seen…if only health weren’t an issue, we might see the fire and competitiveness that has been hidden all these years behind surgery after surgery.
If Houston gets past round 1 this year, I know you’ll be happy, but I wish you could be in it. They’re better off for now knowing who they have night-in, night-out, but if everything goes well and you’re 100% again one day…I hope you’ll give it all one hell of a final shot.

Hey Tracy…it’s sooo good to hear that your surgery was a success!!!! This was the best decision for you. Even though people say this surgery is career-threatning…I truly beleive that you will bounce back and do what you love to do…and the playing basketball. I’ve been a fan of yours ever since you were with Orlando..when your team played against Detroit…you all were the 8th seed and yall played against the 1st seed..even though you all didn’t advance…you still brought your “A” game.

Tracy, I am very glad to hear that your surgery was successful. We truly miss you this season as there are those of us that were really looking forward to you playing. I hope my message doesn’t come across as disrespectful but have you considered retirement? I ask because besides the injury, you just do not appear to have basketball in your heart any more. I say this because when I compare your desire to Kobe, Wade, Lebron, KG you just do not seem to have the same fire that they display although you are just as talented or even more talented as they are. Basketball comes effortless to you but not to the aforementioned players. Even Kobe has to try a lot harder to be a great athlete than you because talent is what God has given you in that area. I do not think you have enough confidence in yourself and I cannot relate because sometimes I doubt my talent while others have a lot of faith in me. I just pray that you do not allow fear to keep you from being the very best that you can be because you definitely have the skills to be the very best. Again I am not trying to sound demeaning but I would hate to see you reflect on your life years from now and realize that there was so much more that you could have done besides being the leading scorer in the league a couple of times. Of course that is not all you have accomplished but for some reason I truly believe there is so much more that you could have given. If people seem to be a little hard on you, can you blame them…..particularly when those things are not said to try to be belittle you because that is not my intent. I pray that you have a speedy recovery and may God continue to bless you!

My friends mention the night when you were seen laughing on television while on the cusp of being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Pistons, while sitting on the bench. However, I saw the tears that you shed when you were eliminated from the playoffs last year in game 7 against the Jazz. I know you want a ring and I believe you can accomplish that. Rehab hard, good luck, and I hope to see you in old form averaging 25 ppg 5 reb’s and 5 assits!!
