Tracy, you are a good player and teams should give you more chances to play more and do what you know you can do. I am thinking the reason why on all the other teams other than Houston you were not doing as good is because the way they handle their plays are different than in Houston. One guy went to the lakers from another team (I forgot his name) did not fit well in the triangle and his scoring was affected. Then he left to go to another team because of that.

One of your offers was with the Clippers, I know their players and the best players get injured easily on that team, so you should think about going to a team that has good trainers. Being on the clippers could end your career and make it worse. They do have a new coach now, but look at what happened to Griffin, Kaman, Gordon, and all those other good players.

I think the Lakers would be a good fit for you if you can do the triangle offense. You would have to take a paycut to be with them though because they are way over the luxory tax, but it is worth it. The Lakers give their players a chance to play and if they prove it, they will play more. When Shannon Brown was playing well after rarely getting any minutes, he started playing more minutes. When he did not do well, he played less minutes, same with Odom, Sasha, and all of them even Kobe. The Lakers know how to handle their players and they have tons of experience from all their coaching staff including a lot of championships. They also play some of their bench players equally as their starters if they do a really good job, so you should think about this. If you prove to them you can play like you did in Houston, then you will get more playing time. You have to build your way back up from injury and prove you have what it takes to play a lot of minutes and score a lot of points like you did in Houston. take Andrew Bynum for example. He did not play as many minutes as he did before he had knee problems because of his knees and injury prone. If they pushed him too hard and have him playing a lot of minutes, then he has an increase chance of being injured again. You should also think about this as well.

Go to a team that you trust that has good trainers and knows how to take care of their players. Another important thing is go to a team where you can fit in with the offense like you did at Houston and especially a team that gives you more playing time when you do well. Lakers are a team that will let you prove that you should play more. Take a paycut and just have fun. That is what basketball is, fun and enjoying yourself.

I have followed your career for sometime now. I remember when you were in high school and of my boys telling me that it got this dude name Tracy McGrady that is going to be a superstar in the league. I remember your days in Orlando, Houston, Knicks, etc. I always loved your game and had respect for you as a ball player all though I was never a fan of any of the teams you played. With that being said…In my opinion, I feel the Lakers is a perfect fit for you. You will get more playing time that you can imagine although you will be coming off the bench. Especially being that you are coming off of injury, it will be a good way for you to get back in the grove, get back to playing like T-Mac, get your stocks up and win a ring in the process. We all know you are good friends with Kobe so it will not be that bad of a transition for you. Derek is aging so his minutes although he will be starting is not going to be extreme. Phil as you know loves big guards. Anybody following basketball can attest to that and you being 6’9 fits right in line with things. Luke Walton is banged up and in all honesty the only issue in dealing him is that he has 3 more years on his contract. Once you learn the triangle, there is no way he can play over you. You along with Lamar will be a lethal combination. Just the other day I was talking with one of my boys and we were talking about you potentially joining the Lakers. He was like, “can you imagine what the practice will be like, the intensity, etc.” Look at Blake running pass Fisher in practice, Barnes harassing Kobe which will make his game that much better, Artest trying to guard you and you torching him which would make him a better defender and you a better scorer, Lamar and Pau going at it and then Ratliff making Bynum a better all around player. Talk about a practice any coach will love. I hope that you really think about this decision because I would love to see you with the Lakers going up against that “Dream Team” they think they have in Miami.
